About the academy I think don't exist anymore because the descrimination is not like before and there is a lot of academys anywhere, Thats what I think.

Dong - After you read the story in your book (Unit 11) I think you'll be able to answer some of your questions.

Aurora - evicted means thrown out of a place.

Magdalena - I don't know if there are any famous singers who went to the academy. The story in our book says that most of the children don't become singers. I'm not sure if the academy exists in 2008, but it existed for about 30 years at least.

I think this story is very interesting because they had special opportunity. It was sad too because black people didn't have a lot of opportunities they were discriminated.

How did he get the idea to build the choir for troublemakers kids?

Average, soul, purpose, among.

I like the story becase Walter Turbull is a good example for the kids because he came from fatherless family and poor family.I think it is important reconice "The poverty is not reason to don't be smart, have talent and other special skill." and Turnbull and Frank Jonesare doing great because they look for ability, for promise not skill. They also look for children with enthusiasm in them...This is an important Academy because the kids can develop and demostrate what they can do if they really want to. for me the action of this man is excelent because he is helping his people.

There are other choirs in the United States that include boys and girls and mixed nationalities.

The academy was going to be evicted because an employee abused someone and Walter did not report it. So when this information got out in the open, the academy lost a lot of financial support.

Nicole said...

In the article, it says that a choir employee was accused of sexual abuse and Walter did not fire him.
